Falling Snow

Snow is falling softly

Quieting the commotion of busy streets

Teaching by example the necessity

For moments of complete stillness

When we finally turn our focus inward

Taking stock of our own emotional reserves

Brave enough to recognize, at last,

What we must do to begin to heal the aching

Reaching when our hearts are heavy

Safeguarding in times of self-protection

Weighing our options until we are sure

Falling to find a peaceful landing.
