Advice to My Younger Self

There is no need to hurry the important decisions,

The ones that will change the DNA of your life

Trickling down into the what, where, and how

Of who you are and the space you occupy;

Take the time to align the ruminating of your mind

With the unwavering pull of your gentle heart

And then you will truly know in your soul

The choice that for you is right.

Don’t be afraid to say the words buried inside

Ignoring them will not dissolve them, as you hope,

And many a sleepless night is haunted

By the ghosts of words we never spoke

The leaps we never dared to take,

So say the words, let the ground shake.
